Everything you need to know about food and drink in Liverpool.

AD- Loire Valley Bucket List

If you saw my post a few weeks ago you'll know that September has been a month of celebrating and enjoying wines from the Loire Valley region in France.I've been sampling the bottles, making my own food pairings and even got a chance to visit the Loire valley tasting truck down at the Albert Docks. (It's a tough job, I know).

As part of the celebration people across the city have been partaking in the Loire Valley Bucket List, a set route of bars and restaurants serving wine from the Loire region with special offers, promotions and discounts available. Having grandly planned to complete the entire bucket list, it was of course only right that Sod's Law saw me in isolation for most of the month, pining over the missed meals and chilled wine bottles I should have been out enjoying.

Thankfully I was allowed my freedom again last week and made the most of the opportunity with a post-work dinner at The Pen Factory on Hope Street. Dog-friendly, super cool and with a regularly changing menu it was the perfect place to enjoy a bottle of Loire Valley Rosé in situ.

I find Rosé wine very hit or miss as I can't bear anything too sweet so the Oiso Rosé de Loire was a really pleasant surprise. Rich and fruity with red berries, smooth drinking and super refreshing after a very long day at the office.  The perfect match for some of Pen Factory's ever-changing small plates menu.

Whilst the month of Loire may be coming to a close, you can of course still find Loire Valley wine across the city and I'm sure any of the places on the bucket list would be happy to have you and recommend something delicious to drink. The recommended stops are:

- The Pen Factory, Hope Street, trendy, boho vibe, super casual.
- Queens Bistro, tiny French restaurant, one of my favourites in the city and previously reviewed here.
-R&H Fine Wines- an independent wine retailer right next door to Queens
- City Wine Bar and Kitchen, drinks and dinner in the business district
- Vin Santo- a Chester-based entry
-Fraiche- Liverpool's closest Michelin Star Restaurant (outrageous, I know)

Let mw know next time you try a bottle.
Bonne Santé
x
