Everything you need to know about food and drink in Liverpool.

Suttiku Bowl

Were we bowled over by the Japanese street food at Suttiku?

Location & Venue:

Trading since early 2019, Suttiku had been running their street-food stall at various locations across the city in various locations before landing a gig at The Baltic Market. Like many of the Baltic's other stalls, during it's five week residency Suttiku grew in popularity with its wildly popular katsu curries and togarashi corn dogs. Suttiku have now opened their first permanent restaurant space on Aigburth Rd, a small and minimal space scattered with bar stools and colourful prints.

Food & Drink:

We try a range of items on the menu including their famous Katsu which comes in a mild but highly fragrant sauce. We enjoy digging through a huge bowl of thick and chewy udon with crisp fried tofu but probably wouldn't re-order the kombucha squash gyoza.  The star of the show is the Kara-age cauli which comes deep fried and crispy, dripping in teriyaki glaze. I'd probably go back for that alone.

We don't order drinks but I believe they have a small craft beer selection in store including a few cans from Liverpool's own Neptune Brewery.

Need to Know: Whilst dining indoors is an option Suttiku definitely seems like more of a pit-stop dinner place so I wouldn't choose it for date night unless you're going to pick up a take-away and eat it in your jammies.

Price: ££ No nasty surprises- around a tenner for a main meal and only 6 quid for that fabulous cauliflower.

Conclusion: A great start for Suttiko on Aigburth Rd. Fans of their food will be pleased they have a permanent home and I wish them loads of luck for the next few months! If you're sick of the usual take-away options and want to impress this is a great choice.
