It's been a quiet few months in Liverpool but as the city slowly starts to wake up from it's Covid-induced slumber it's more important now than ever that we support local businesses and attractions in their first tentative steps back to normality. To help us with this, our very own tourist board
Visit Liverpool have launched a new campaign which aims to remind locals how fabulous our city is and get them to fall in love with it all over again through visiting some of our best spots and seeing the city 'like a tourist' might do.
With newly implemented safety measures in mind, I worked with them to plan a full day out in Liverpool for me and my mum who I've missed terribly since lock-down began. We chose a mixture of big touristy attractions and a few little local secrets to keep things interesting and set about exploring our home city again properly for the first time since March.
Our Itinerary
9.30am- We started with a little
Breakfast at The Albert Dock. I can't stand being anywhere too crowded (I'm a
ball at festivals) so I always think it's best to get down to the docks early so you can enjoy it when it's most peaceful. We ate al fresco and slurped coffee and smoothie bowls from the lovely
Peaberry Coffee House and Kitchen, caught up on each other's lives and watched the seagulls attack passing strangers. Very zen.

10.30am- It was only a very short stroll over to the
Liverpool Tate Gallery which was just about to open up for the day. You have to pre-book a slot these days but the gallery is still free to explore and is full of everything weird and wonderful you'd expect from modern art. If you're anything like me you'll be pleased to know they have a cracking gift shop, too.

12.00pm- We headed right around the back of The Albert Docks to
The Beatles Experience. You forgot as a Scouser sometimes the impact
The Beatles had on the world but it was so busy in there! It was cool to see some of their old tour posters and the John Lennon 'Imagine' room *may* have brought a little tear to my eye. Skip the audio tour- it's a bit waffley.

1.30pm- For lunch we took a trip to Castle Street to find one of my
favourite hidden lunch spots-
Queens Liverpool. It's a tiny little French bistro tucked away off a side street and in the sunshine it is an absolutely glorious spot to sit and watch the world go by. Food is wonderful, staff are delightful- it's one of my best recommendations for lunch or dinner in Liverpool at the moment. Link to a previous review I did for Liverpool Confidential is

3.30pm-Our last big stop of the day was another of Liverpool's newest and most unusual attractions-
The Quirky Quarter. Housed inconspicuously at the top of Duke Street, The Quirky Quarter is a bit like those 'Ripley's Believe it or Not' fun-houses you find on holiday.. You step through a hidden door into a world of hilarious photo opportunities, optical illusions, mazes and upside-down houses. I won't give too much away because part of the fun is discovering it all for yourself but I'd recommend it as a day out for anybody. Perfect for kids too or as a bit of pre-dinner fun in the evenings.

5pm- By this point we were cream-crackered but fortunately past me had thought ahead and pre-booked a table at the eternally busy
Rudy's on Castle Street. The rest of our family came and met us in their beer garden for Aperol, beer and Neopolitan style pizza in the sunshine.
I've always maintained that Liverpool is the perfect city for tourists but it often slips my mind how good it is for the locals, too. Whilst plane travel is still a bit iffy and trips to Cornwall and the likes cost more than a family hatchback it's definitely time to
#LoveYourLiverpool and enjoy the marvellous surroundings we've got right here.
